CHOCOLATE ORANGE BANANA BREAD

A delicious chocolate twist on traditional banana bread. With farm-fresh ingredients, this recipe is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Ingredients
  • 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup walnuts, toasted, chopped (optional)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 cup mashed, ripe bananas
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • Flour a 9 x 5-inch metal loaf pan
  • Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt ingredients in a small bowl
  • Add chocolate chips, walnuts and orange zest; stir and let sit
  • In a large bowl, beat butter until fluffy
  • Gradually add sugar and stir until blended
  • Add in eggs beating one at a time; slowly beat in bananas, lemon juice and vanilla extract
  • Spoon ½ of batter into prepared the pan
  • Sprinkle with chocolate chips and orange zest
  • Spoon remaining batter into the pan
  • Run a knife or fork through batter in a zig zag pattern
  • Bake until a toothpick poked into the center of loaf comes out clean
  • Bakes for about 60 minutes
  • Allow to cool 10 minutes before serving
