
CHOCOLATE ORANGE BANANA BREAD
- 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup semisweet chocolate chips
- ¾ cup walnuts, toasted, chopped (optional)
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ½ tablespoon orange zest
- 1 cup mashed, ripe bananas
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to 350°
- Flour a 9 x 5-inch metal loaf pan
- Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt ingredients in a small bowl
- Add chocolate chips, walnuts and orange zest; stir and let sit
- In a large bowl, beat butter until fluffy
- Gradually add sugar and stir until blended
- Add in eggs beating one at a time; slowly beat in bananas, lemon juice and vanilla extract
- Spoon ½ of batter into prepared the pan
- Sprinkle with chocolate chips and orange zest
- Spoon remaining batter into the pan
- Run a knife or fork through batter in a zig zag pattern
- Bake until a toothpick poked into the center of loaf comes out clean
- Bakes for about 60 minutes
- Allow to cool 10 minutes before serving
